Four dimmers in one line is usually a floor rather than a room: the ceiling, the lamps, the kitchen, and the light outside the front door. Four identical dimmers on a counter mean picking each one up to work out what it does. In a 190 mm (7.5 in) row, the one on the far right is the outside light and it is still the one on the far right next week.

The magnet is in the dimmer, not the pedestal - the pedestal carries the steel slug that magnet grips. The dimmer sets down at an angle you can read and press without picking it up, and lifts off with one hand when a battery is due. Non-slip silicone feet keep the pedestal put on glass, wood or stone, and it is shaped so that pressing the top button does not tip it.

More than 20 colors. Each filament is either matte or glossy, so the finish comes with the color. Speckled Black is a graphite base with shiny white specks in it, and Cookies & Cream a cool-white base with black specks.

The same pedestal is made as a single, double, triple and quintuple, all straight rows.
